FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Shanghai, People’s Republic of China – July, 2013 – Highlighted as one of the featured exhibitor’s in the largest aluminum trade conference in China, Almex recently hosted a variety of guests to its exhibition booth. Almex’s participation in the conference marks the close of another highly successful event in the company’s long-running interaction within the Chinese aluminum markets. This year, like many others, Almex continued to field inquiries about its development of new and exciting casting technologies. On the forefront of these discussions were topics such as technologies to cast hard alloys with adjustable molds, super large diameter billet casting technologies, and optimization of casting practices for green field facilities.
Ricky Quintana, Commercial Project Manager for Almex, was one of the team members who attended the conference which covered three days from the 2nd through the 4th of July. Mr. Quintana spoke highly of the outcome of the event: “We had a great show. In addition to seeing friendly faces of existing customers and colleagues, we were happy to meet new contacts from a number of markets lesser known to Almex like West Africa and Saudi Arabia. Many visitors to our booth were also very interested in learning about our latest developments in Al-Li technologies – we could only disclose so much!”
Almex’s developments into aluminum lithium technology have been accelerated since receiving two contracts for the design, manufacture, supply, and installation of complete Al-Li casting plants in recent years. The fundamental technology and experience, however, have been in Almex’s product portfolio for a number of years since its development of Al-Li billet casting processes in 1998.
In addition to photographs and media of the company’s latest developments, also on display at the Almex booth were sample slices of billet and ingot cast using Almex technology. 600 mm diameter billet slices were displayed in AA7050 as well as AA7175. Attracting the most attention, however, was the slice of rolling ingot of AA7055 which was cast using Almex’s proprietary technologies to significantly reduce butt curl while enhancing slab quality and recovery.
