FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Buena Park, California, USA – November, 2012 – A trusted supplier to the world’s largest companies in the aerospace metals market, Almex has been highlighted in the October 2012 issue of Light Metal Age magazine for its involvement in establishing a New Global Technology Center for Universal Alloy Corporation (UAC).
The plant which was commissioned in Dumbravita Romania features an Almex MiniCast™ system capable of producing 8,000 metric tons per year of hard alloy extrusion billet to support the extrusion processes of UAC. Employing Almex’s core equipment and process technologies of molten aluminum degassing, purification, and vertical direct chill casting, the UAC casthouse produces high quality aerospace grade billet in diameters ranging from 149mm to 254mm.
UAC also employs a complete casting line designed, installed, and commissioned by Almex in its Anaheim, California plant which has been in operation since 2003. That plant supports UAC’s domestic billet needs in addition to serving as a research and development facility for the company. Both the US and Romanian plants feature Almex’s CASTRIGHT II™ automation and controls system for guaranteeing tight process control over all casting parameters to ensure the highest standards in product quality for use in demanding aerospace applications.
