Position Requirements

Almex is looking for a Metallurgical and Process Control Manager to join its Buena Park location. In this role you’ll be responsible for leading the company’s quality assurance directives and managing the company’s metallurgical department.  Working closely with the Design, Manufacturing, and Field Commissioning Departments, you’ll work to coordinate a variety of goals and guide the company through its most complex technical and product related challenges.

You’ll lead strategic engagements that deliver key research and development goals, quality management systems, new process control research, product development initiatives, and manufacturing strategies across the aluminum industry. Internal teams and external customers will look to you to clearly communicate strategic solutions in an informed and engaging manner.  Relevant experience with, and an understanding of, metallurgical quality standards, quality assurance systems, research and development programs, and manufacturing techniques is a must.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
  • Knowledge of Aluminum DC Billet and Sheet Ingot Casting Processes – minimum 5 years experience
  • Familiar and capable with Design of Experiments
  • Must be able and willing to work the full range from theoretical to practical (hands-on)
  • Self-starter comfortable working with minimum supervision
  • Superior communication skills, both internal and customer-facing
  • Strong relationship management, organizational, and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of internal teams and business groups including technical mechanical and electrical engineering departments
  • Accountability for time and resource investments through the use of analytics and understanding of effectiveness drivers
  • Strong interest in technology understanding, development, and commercialization
  • Willing to travel – domestic and international
