FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
LONGZHOU, China – March 2008 – Almex has successfully commissioned a MiniCast™ billet plant at the Miluo Longzhou Aluminium Company plant in Miluo, China. The plant is capable of producing 2000, 6000 and 7000 series aluminum alloy extrusion billet in 6” x 40 strand, 7” x 36 strand and 10” x 24 strand diameters with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons per year. The complete plant, with layout, technology, and process know how from Almex, has potential expansion capacity up to 100,000 tons per year and is capable of secondary scrap remelt from external sources.
Furnace and metal purification technologies ensure high quality end product standards while allowing the plant to remain totally compliant to all emissions regulations – both regionally and nationally – without the cost and associated issues of requiring bag house technologies. The casting line utilizes the latest Almex technology including LARS® metal purification system, Mega™ casting machine, Excel™ billet tooling, and quality control equipment including Z-Met® and Ultrex II™. Almex also provided the technical specifications for the melting and homogenizing furnaces used at the plant in order for the customer to select the optimum furnace configuration from local suppliers. Upon completion of commissioning, the plant is making small diameter billets in soft & hard alloys.
